The tree stood tall and proud

As it offered the woman it’s shade.

It tried so hard to protect her

for, it felt she was afraid.

She leaned against it’s trunk

Her sobs rustled through the leaves,

Sighing lightly like the breeze;

Echoes of a heart that grieves.

The tears ran like a river

And watered deep the roots,

Bringing forth the blossoms

That would later bear the fruits.

The tree stood tall and proud

As the soldiers checked it out.

“I think this one will do.

Cut it down,” he heard them shout.

They cut and carved upon that tree;

Stripped it of blossom and bark

Then, they made a rugged cross

That’s the day the world turned dark.

As Jesus hung upon that tree

He was the last fruit it would bear.

For, Jesus was the fruit of God

He was longsuffering and full of care.

The tree no longer stood proud,

As the blood of the Lamb did stain.

It bent with the weight of it’s shame

And it wanted to weep from the pain.

Jesus whispered to the tree,

“From this day forth shall you cry.”

Thus grew the weeping willow

That had watched the Saviour die.”

Druk jou irritasies ‘n pit.  Laat niemand op jou kop sit

Vlieg hoog.  Lê laag.  Sit ‘n horrible tattoo op jou maag. 

Dra rooi oorbelle.  Hang blink goeters aan jou ander los velle.

Celebrate jouself as vrou.  Niemand hoef van jou te hou.!

Na drie maande se wag het ek uiteindelik die foto’s gekry!

Op 9 Julie 2008, twee dae voor sy veertiende verjaarsdag, het Boeta toe uiteindelik sy eerste bokkie geskiet. Soos ek die saak verstaan het hy eers 10 dae se intensiewe skietopleiding van sy oom en neefs ontvang voordat hy kon gaan jag!

Alles het goed afgeloop tydens die jag, darem nie te veel koeëls gemors nie, alhoewel ek verneem het dat die mannetjie blykbaar erg gestres het oor die lewer etery. Die meisietjie saam met hom ook – maar hulle het darem na die tyd elkeen ‘n glasie soetwyn weggeslaan om die lewer in die keelgat af te kry! Hy het die horings gehou (ons gaan dit later laat raam) en het self biltong (chilli bites) gemaak van die vleis.

Nou ja, volgende uitdaging is om vir ou Pampoen, die oranje Cruiser hierbo, te leer bestuur.  Hy het al glo ‘n paar lesse agter die blad, maar die wegtrek en stop sal nog baie ge-oefen moet word!

Ek het so ‘n rukkie terug op televisie ‘n program gekyk waarin daar melding gemaak is van die “Fainting Goat”.  Het toe ‘n bietjie op Wikipedia gaan rondsnuffel om meer te wete te kom oor dié eienaardige bokkies!

“A fainting goat is a breed of domestic goat whose muscles freeze for roughly 10 seconds when the goat is startled.  Though painless, this generally results in the animal collapsing on its side.  The characteristic is caused by a hereditary disorder called myotonia congenita.  When startled, younger goats will stiffen and fall over.  Older goats learn to spread their legs or lean against something when startled, and often they continue to run about in an awkward, stiff-legged shuffle.

Slightly smaller than standard breeds of goat, fainting goats are generally 43 to 64 centimeters tall and can weigh anywhere from 27 to 75 kilograms.  Their life expectancy is 12 to 15 years.

Every year in October fainting goats are honoured in the Fainting Goat Festival held in Marshall County, Tennessee, USA .”

Donker my hart

geboks en verpak

verskeep na ‘n vêr land

anderkant die horison-rand

Toegedraai het ek hom verseël

en daarop geskrywe:

“Om te vergeet” al die hartseer tye

Pallisade om my hart gebou

om al die hartseer uit te hou

Yskoue blokke staal

Is daar iemand wat dit sal kom haal?

Elke droom toegedraai in sellofaan

eens was dit my wentelbaan

Waar is die mens wat sal verstaan

oor die boks wat in die pakhuis staan?
